Step 2: Identify Your Damage

Series 2 / V2

No Damage — New Lock

If your V2 is new or undamaged you may want to purchase a replacement to proactively protect the existing lock before squirrels find it.

Moderate or Complete Knob Damage

For most V2 damage, a Complete Gen3 replacement is the right choice. The examples below show the range of damage we’ve successfully repaired:

V2 moderate damage - circular void in knob V2 severe damage - star pattern chewed through V2 severe damage - screw through body V2 cosmetic damage - cap partially intact
Option A — clip still accessible
Option B — shaft likely damaged
Option B — shaft severely damaged
Cosmetic only — Proactive replacement for aluminum
Damage Recommendation
Knob gone, clip visible, shaft intact Remove clip → Option A
Knob gone, shaft damaged or chewed Option B
Shaft severely damaged Option B — may work, no guarantees. Body cover can hide body damage
Cosmetic damage only, cap partially intact Proactive replacement; prep then Option A
Body damage below the knob Consider adding a Body Cover alongside whichever knob option you choose

Series 3 / V3

No Damage — New Lock

If your V3 is new or undamaged you may wish to proactively replace the knob with an aluminum knob before the squirrels terrorize your new knob.

Moderate or Complete Knob Damage

For most V3 damage, a Complete Gen3 replacement is the right choice. Note that V3 replacement requires a Torx T10 security screwdriver — available as an add-on during Etsy checkout (free for orders over $30, just ask in the personalization field).
